Orders have been received at the Marion post office to prepare to handle postal service to Pilsen patrons beginning January 1. The post office there, which serves some 30 patrons, has been ordered closed Dec. 31 by the post office department. Pilsen patrons will be served door-to-door by rural route 4 out of Marion.
Mrs. Floyd Yaussi, president of the Twentieth Century Club, presented awards in the recent Safe-Driving Day to Georgia Olsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Olsen, teenage driver; Norma Sly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Sly, adult safe drive; and Jan Hayen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hayen, who won a poster contest conducted in the 6th grade.
The Marion Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a free movie at the City Building Saturday afternoons until Christmas. Admission is free.
Lavonn Jost of Stringtown, Oklahoma, 15-year-old niece of Mrs. Clyde Thies and June Jost, Marion, learned last week that she has been chosen as one of the 20 junior finalists in a national baking contest sponsored by Pillsbury Mills. She and her mother, as chaperone, have been awarded an all-expense paid trip to New York where the final contest will be held.
The Aulne MYF group enjoyed a party in the church basement last Tuesday evening. It was a farewell for Dean Williams who left for service Thursday and a welcome home for Jack Williams who had just returned home. Those attending other than the honored guests were Marlys Rupp, Donna Williams, Mrs. Ray Peirce, Joyce Seibel, Duane Fruechting, Bob Seibel, Jerry Olsen, Roger Richmond, Gary Mott, Howard Williams, Eugene Just, Willard Hett and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Darrow,
