John Waner, well-known farmer living southeast of Marion, was appointed this week by the county commissioners to be the new superintendent of the Marion County Park and Lake, effective April 15.

Jackson's Clothing Store announced this week that they have leased the former J.C. Penney location and will move into it sometime during the month of April. The building is owned by Mrs. E.E. Phillips. The present location of Jackson's is owned by Case & Son.

A special "Question Submitted" ballot will be handed all eligible voters of the city at the regular election April 4, proposing a bond issue of up to $6900 with which to buy land for a permanent center of athletic, recreational, and farm-show type activities of the community.

The Mack Hardware Store in Marion will close out its entire stock of merchandise in a sale coming up in April and will quit business in their location on Main Street. Officials of the company pointed out, however that they are consolidating their hardware business with their lumber business, the Mack-Welling Lumber and Supply in Marion.

A new school in Korea was dedicated last week to the memory of Father Kapaun, Pilsen, army chaplain who died in a communist prison camp during the Korean War. The school is named Father Kapaun Memorial Technical School and is at Kwangju, 250 miles south of Seoul. The school was built with funds raised in the Catholic church among U.S. servicemen and the armed forces assistance to Korea program. Woodworking, metal work and other technical courses will be available to Korean youths.
