The wheat harvest in Marion County is in full swing this week, with a good portion of the crop already in. And the story that is being written in bushels of golden grain is that the per acre average is well over earlier estimates. Many fields were running over 20 bushels. In several instances yields of over 40 bushels were reported.

The proposal to consolidate high schools at Lincolnville, Lost Springs, Ramona and Burdick was approved Monday at a special election. Approval was a combined voted of 355 to 122, almost 3 to 1. Details of the new school will develop in the next several months as the machinery is set in motion to effect the consolidation.

Lawrence D. Slocombe, prominent Catlin Township farmer-stockman, filed Monday of this week for state representative from the Marion County district on the Republican ticket.

Jean Morse asked guests for a slumber party at her home last Wednesday. The girls enjoyed a swim at the Country Club and a picnic supper on the porch at the Morse home before the slumber party. The guests included Sidney Hume, Helen Olsen, Mary Melton and Helen and Charlotte Langley.

Births at St. Luke Hospital this week included a son, James Kent Richmond Jr., born June 14 to Mr. and Mrs. Kent Richmond and a daughter, Sharon Sue, born June 15 to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Anderson.

Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Jirak, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara, to Edmund Reznicek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reznicek, Lost Springs. The wedding date will be announced later.

Fr. John J. Moffitt C.SS. R., son of the late Dr. James T. Moffitt and Mrs. Nellie Moffitt of Tampa, will celebrate his first Solemn Mass at Holy Redeemer Church, Tampa on July 7. Fr. Moffitt will be ordained July 2 at the Redemptorist Father's Seminary of Immaculate Conception in Oconomowoc, Wis.

School Day friends gathered Sunday for a reunion of the 1946 graduating class of Marion High School.
