A happy family reunion, somewhat out of the ordinary, occurred here Saturday when six Pierce sisters and their brother, Milo, enjoyed reunion and dinner together. The unusual part of the occasion is in their ages which range from 88 to 77. Present were Mrs. Minnie Miller, 86, of St. Francis, Mrs. D.D. McIntosh, 79, Mrs. Amanda Oyer, 88, Mrs. Chris Devore, 81, Mary Scharenberg, 83, and Milo Pierce 77. Another brother, L.C. Pierce, 69, of McPherson couldn't be present.
Roland Vogel was injured early Thursday morning when the truck tire he was working on struck him in the head at Navrat Service where he is employed. An ambulance was summoned and rushed him to St. Luke Hospital. He regained consciousness as he reached the hospital. No further report was available at press time.
Ed Colburn, Marion County Probate Judge, was painfully burned early Wednesday evening in an accident at the backyard barbecue of Mr. and Mrs. John Brose. Colburn was pouring gasoline on a charcoal fire when he was startled and accidentally splashed some of the liquid on himself, burning his hand and arm. He was taken to St. Luke Hospital for treatment and was admitted.
Janice Jantz celebrated her fifth birthday Friday afternoon by asking a number of her friends for a party, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Martin Jantz. Guests included Gene Bowers, Joyce Goentzel, Janet and Karen Hein, Stephen Janzen, Bryce Ollenberger, Janet Giles, Pamela Weigart, Vicki Boese, Janet Van Buren, and Michael Jantz.
The hustling Marion Babe Ruth League team, unbeaten so far in league play this year, will go to Kingman July 28 and 29 to take part in the state Babe Ruth tournament. The sharp Marion outfit is managed and sponsored by Ed Navrat.
