The new 1955 Chevrolet car stolen from Cook Motor Company garage here on June 16 was recovered in Shawnee, Oklahoma, when police there caught two men in the act of trying to move a safe out of a store. The car, parked a short distance from the store, aroused the suspicion of patrolling police. It had been driven over 3,000 miles in the two weeks.

A group of women left on their vacations and will tour the South for the next two weeks. Those who made the trip included Mrs. Fred Oyer, who drove her car, Mrs. Mae Carpenter, Mrs. Kathryn Swan, and Miss Mable Amick of Emporia.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Clark, Hollywood, Calif., stopped in Marion Tuesday to look up old friends of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milt Clark, and to take pictures of several of the old buildings here. They were returning from Cleveland where he had been a delegate to Kiwanis International. Mr. Clark's grandfather was E.R. Trenner, an old-time resident and the first abstractor in Marion County.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hett on the arrival of a baby boy July 2 at St. Luke Hospital. The baby weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and has been name Edward John. He is the Hetts first child.

Mr. and Mrs. Ira Newcomer had as guests at their cabin at the lake for the Fourth of July, Mrs. S.G. Griswold and Donnie, Newton; Miss Mary Ann Griswold, Kansas City; Floyd Firebaugh and John Newcomer, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wolf, Mrs. Al Richardson, Mrs. Norma Hannaford and Mary Hannaford, Marion; Bob Exline, Salina; Mike Smith and Ted Barber, Beloit.
