Randolph Carpenter, 61, former Congressman from the 4th Kansas District, and one of Marion most prominent residents, died this noon of a heart attack while attending a Topeka Rotary Club luncheon.

County lake fishermen will be looking forward in a year or two to catching some of the thousands of small channel catfish that have been put into ponds south of the dam where they will be fed until suitable size to be put in the lake proper. Men assisting with putting the fish in the pond were James Meisner, Fred Koch, Albert Klenda, and John Waner.

Mrs. Howard Foth entertained several children at the city park July 12 in honor of the third birthday of her little daughter, Brenda Kaye. Those present included Danny Frickey, Steve and Lloyd Behrendt, Mark Kline, Karen Young and their mothers.

The following new members were welcomed at the Thursday evening meeting of the Sub Deb Club: Bernadine Broadstreet, Molly Brodhead, Judy Covey, Marilyn Dixon, Sandra Hammer, Sandra Higgins, Gaila Jost, Darlene Oblander, Caroline Susdorf, Rosalie Cogdill, Mary Ann Williams, and Delores Schafers.

Pat Costello, who was seven years old Wednesday, celebrated his birthday in an unusual way. He was invited by KARD-TV station, Wichita, to come to Wichita and bring his friends to be their guests at the four o'clock show. The following appeared on the show with Pat: David Longhofer, Bobby Elling, Mike and Patsy Wood, and Pat's sister, Cathleen Costello.

Jean Morse and Mary Melton will leave Sunday for Springfield, Mo., where they will attend Girl Scout Camp Sharvio, located south of Springfield.

Mrs. Frank Magathan announces the engagement of her daughter, Shirley, to Mr. Leland Nienstedt, son of Mrs. Frank Nienstedt, Florence. The wedding date has not been set.
