Jack Adams, who is employed at the Home Oil Co. station on East Main, was the victim of an accident Thursday afternoon. He went out to service a Cadillac, driven by tourists, which stopped for gas. He raised the hood to take the radiator cap off. When it blew off after being loosened, steam from the heated car sprayed Jack on the forehead, and as he ducked and turned also sprayed him on the back. He was treated at St. Luke and remained overnight, but was back to work on Saturday.

The long awaited "open house" of the all new Hassinger Plumbing and Heating headquarters in their new location on Marion Street will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday. The public is invited to stop in for a visit and to see the new store.

R.B. "Boone" Harris, one of the few remaining early-day residents of this area, died Wednesday in a Wichita hospital following an illness of several weeks.

All seniors of the class of 1956 are invited to a picnic and swimming party next Saturday night, August 25. The picnic will be at the double shelter house at the county lake at 6:30. At 9 o'clock the pool at Hillsboro has been rented until 10:30 for just this party at 25 cents per person. Everybody come and let's have a last reunion before we part for the winter. Committee.

Cheryl and Burton Tidwell, children of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Tidwell, Caldwell, are guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Sly and Norma.

Mrs. Edna Firebaugh, Chicago, Ill., entertained with a dinner at Kingfisher's Inn Friday evening in honor of her brother C.R. Moulton and his fiancée Carol Jean Schambron, whose wedding occurred Sunday.

The management of the Kaw announced this week the necessary increase in prices to be made effective at the theatre starting September 2. Adults will pay 60 cents, children 20 cents, and a new "junior price" of 45 cents will apply to those from 12 through the ninth grade.

Births announced this week were the following: Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vogel have a little daughter Sherri Ann born August 17 at St. Luke Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces. Little Joan Clarisse Kroupa was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa August 20 at St. Luke Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds 6 ounces.
