Complete redecoration of the Kaw Theatre, inside and out, from top to bottom is progressing under the new ownership, Dickinson, Inc. of Mission and Richard Brodhead as local manager. The lobby, theatre walls, lounge and all will be re-done in cream and ivory with maroon trim. "Spare no expense or effort" ordered the new owners, to make the house second to none of its size in Kansas.
Joe Swan was able to leave the hospital the first of the week where he had been for two weeks following severe burns sustained at the Snappy Joe's Filling Station fire.
The girls of the Bell Telephone exchange enjoyed an old fashioned taffy pull Friday evening at the home of Mary Margaret McGhay. They enjoyed the refreshments served by the hostess but not the blisters received while pulling taffy. Those who attended were Miss Lilly Keazer, Mrs. Hazel Meierhoff, Mrs. John Dixon, Mrs. Walter Fruechting, Mary Ray, Irene Mohn, and Dorothy Powell.
Mrs. Alvin Kreutziger and Ralph Duane left the Marion Hospital Saturday. The young man entered the world Sunday, Nov. 15, with a good start as he weighed eleven and one-half pounds.
Seniors on the Marion High School honor roll for the second six weeks are Peggy Lou Gerstenkorn, Florence Irene King, Betty Mersereau, Annabelle Rees, Mary Alice Rees, Joan Wight, Jean Knight, Wilma Smithheisler, and Lucille Stenzel. Juniors are Carolyn Hayen, Vera Belle Province, Mary Jo Utting, Ruth Skibbe, Nancy Colburn, Mildred Garrison, Harry Gilson, and Vera Marie Matthew. Sophomores Mary Helen King and Gene Nelson. Freshmen LaVerna Knight, Jeanne Carpenter, Wanda Hannaford, Norma Jean Amick, Joan Kelsey, Margery Ann Ewert, Phyllis Beu, Mary Louise Tibbetts, LaNorma Jean Smithheisler, Harold Ehrlich, and Howard Collett.
