The Eight Aces Club, comprised of eight freshmen high school girls, entertained with a party Friday evening at the home of Norma Jean Amick. Games and contests were enjoyed, followed by refreshments by Miss Amick. Those present were Norma Jean Amick, Jeanne Carpenter, Phyllis Beu, Margie Frazier, Mary Louise Tibbetts, LaVerna Knight, Wanda Hannaford, Jackie Hawbecker, Rosse and Junior Case, John Brose, Bob Edmunds, Billy Higgins, Ted Werts, Alfred Schmersey, Donnie Hoover, Jack Beaston, and Gene Nelson.

Mrs. Marvin Burkholder entertained Sunday evening at dinner in honor of Mr. Burkholder's birthday. Invited guests were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stenzel, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stiller, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Knackstedt, Mr. and Mrs. August Hett Jr., Mr. and Mrs. John Lewellen, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fruechting, and Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Blankley.

Two students from Marion County have been selected for "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." They are 1939 MHS graduate Gailen White, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. White, Hillsboro. He is recognized for outstanding honors and achievement acquired in his three years at Friends University, Wichita. He now is a senior and a pre-medical student. The other student is Miss Jean McNicol, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McNicol of Lost Springs, and a junior at McPherson College.

By order of the office of Civil Defense, the following regulations are to be followed during the trial blackout Dec. 14: Stay where you are. Put out all lights that can be seen from the outside. Do not use the telephone during the blackout period except in case of emergency. Turn off all gas fires except the pilot lights. Infraction of the regulations will be reported by wardens.
