After the withdrawal March 1 of the Ford brothers from the grocery delivery here, Otis Kelsey started to operate a delivery system with deliveries in the Valley in the morning and on the Hill in the afternoon. But, he finds that the job won't work and has given it up. Marion citizens are again compelled, therefore, to operate their own delivery by the carry system.

Under the canned goods rationing, baby foods are the lowest point value. One local fellow, discouraged over what he could buy with his 48 points a month — or rather what he could not buy — said that he really was feeling kinda childish these days and was thinking of going on a baby food diet.

Mrs. Jess Coons and Miss Claudine Dixon entertained last Wednesday evening with a steak supper at the Green Parrot in honor of Miss Mary Margaret McGhay. Places were laid for the guest of honor and Miss Maxine Eilerts, Miss Frances Richmond, Miss Hilda Urbanek, Mrs. Hilda Klein, and the hostesses.

Mrs. Leslie Powell invited seven boys for dinner Monday evening in celebration of Junior's birthday. The boys played games after school, then enjoyed hamburgers, ice cream, and a birthday cake. Boys who were present were Billy Carpenter, Timmie Burkholder, C.R. Moulton, Monty Frazier, Bobby Reinke, Buddy Hannaford, and Kerns Allen.

The children of Mr. and Mrs. David Wheeler Jr. have been very sick the past week. David Jr. is at home with his grandmother, Mrs. C.B. Wheeler, and Lenore and Lu Esther are pneumonia patients at Axtell Hospital in Newton. Their mother is at the hospital with them. They are reported to be getting along nicely now.

Miss Florence Irene King is quarantined for measles this week.

The younger generation in the Pilsen area have taken to hiking. A group of children have enjoyed walks of several miles on warm Sunday afternoons. Sylvia Winter, Delores and Faye Ann Bezdek, and Leonard and Marion Navrat all thought it fun to just walk.
