Second Lieutenant Robert E. Hayen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hayen of Shoshone, Wyo., formerly of Marion, was killed Monday in a plane crash at Hamilton Field Calif.

The I Try Club, which is a missionary society of junior high girls, enjoyed a party Friday night at the Christian Church basement. The entertainment committee was Betty Williams, Anne Burkholder, Rose Mary Avery, and Donna Hobein. The refreshment committee was Donna Powell, Patsy Harris, Loyette Hollar, and Wanda Williams. Mrs. Leslie Powell is sponsor of the club.

Mrs. Fred Domke arrive in Marion Sunday to stay while her husband is on maneuvers. She has been in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to be near him.

A family dinner was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Popp and Kathryn in honor of Miss Vera Popp of Emporia and Cpl. Ralph Popp of Winfield. Miss Popp recently joined the WAACs and will go into active duty soon. Cpl. Ralph Popp is with the Air Force training center at Winfield.

Mrs. John Edmunds entertained Tuesday evening with a birthday party honoring her daughter, Delores. Girls who enjoyed the evening with Delores were Imogene Mathiot, Patsy Brose, Rose Marie Avery, Norma Jean Province, Corrine Longhofer, Jean Hagans, Janice Socolofsky, Jerry Lou Johns, and Cleo Klein.

Mrs. Leslie Ollenberger of San Luis Obispo, Calif., came Saturday for an indefinite stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bessel at Durham. They were guests on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Bernhardt and Mrs. Will Ollenberger.

Mr. and Mrs. Charley Druse are the happy parents of twin boys born Saturday, March 13, at the Hillsboro hospital. The Druses have three other boys which completes a basketball quintet.

Max Loveless, who has enlisted in the Marine Corps, left last Monday for Leavenworth. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Loveless, took him to Marion Monday morning.
