Friends of the Howard Daniel family, formerly of Marion, were grieved Saturday to hear that 2nd Lt. Quentin Daniel, 24, a bombardier in the Air Force, had been killed in the South Pacific.

Mrs. Howard Siebert entertained Saturday afternoon with a birthday party for her daughter, Carmen, who was four years old on Sunday. Those present were Vicki Black, Billy Jean and Donna Herbert, Margie Ann Bernhardt, Patsy Dixon, Karen Brodhead, Judy Coons, Carol Jean Allen, Joyce Conyers, Marilyn Reh, and Donna and Doris Geis.

Mrs. Geo Toews was the honored guest at a dinner Wednesday evening at the Green Parrot, followed by a slumber party at the apartment of Misses Helen Seifert and Neva Heiser. Others present were Miss Lois Keazer, Miss Martha Hansen, Miss Luella Regier, and Miss Iola Hegle. Mrs. Toews left Thursday to join her husband, who is stationed at Fort Leavenworth.

Pvt. and Mrs. Richard Hollar, Miss Helen Hett, Miss Carol Lea Kiddoo, and Leland Hollar spent Wednesday evening in Emporia with Bud Pierce.

Mr. and Mrs. John Seifert and family moved last week to Marion from Fredonia. He has purchased the Seifert Garage and also the Adam Seifert residence. He will take over active management of the garage.

Mr. and Mrs. P.P. Unruh received word of a new grandchild. A six pound baby girl was born Friday to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Unruh of Wichita. Mr. and Mrs. John Hett went to Wichita Sunday to see their new granddaughter, the baby girl of the Herman Unruhs. The Ronald Hetts and Willard also went to Wichita. Mrs. Lloyd Darrow is with her little nephew, Dale Unruh, while Mrs. Herman Unruh and infant daughter are in St. Francis Hospital.
