2nd Lt. Richard Larkin is here on a short leave, visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Larkin. He is a bombardier on a Flying Fortress. He has been in camp at Dalhart, Texas, is going from here to Kearney, Neb., where the crew will take a bomber, and be sent somewhere in the combat zones.

Mr. and Mrs. Amos Henry entertained Friday evening with a picnic supper to honor their daughter Patricia's ninth birthday. Those invited were Mary Margaret Hannaford, Carol Oblander, Sarabel Wolf, Joyce Priess, Roberta Newsom, Janice Meisner, Donnie Hayen, Johnnie Newcomer, Billie Hildebrand, and Greg Henry.

The junior class of Marion High School entertained the senior class May 13 at a lovely banquet at the high school. Theme of the banquet was "South American Fiesta." Hostesses Anna Lou Hoch and Lois Mathiot and hosts Rosse Case and Gene Nelson, of the sophomore class, greeted the guests on their arrival.

Mrs. James Meisner entertained Saturday afternoon with a birthday party in honor of her daughter Janice's 10th birthday. Guests included Miss Julia Campbell, Carol Ann Oblander, Sarabel Wolf, Joy Marie Priess, Patricia Henry, Mary Margaret Hannaford, Patsy Rittel, Edna Grimes, Carol Reddig, Jeanette Russell, Marjorie Ewert, Robert Newsom, and Marilyn Richmond.

We happened to be in Marion Creamery this week when a churn of their fine golden butter was being packed in 50-pound cartons to be shipped to the west coast. From there the government ships a large percent of it for our armed forces and lend-lease friends. Gordon Wolf, manager, says they ship two carloads a month besides what is sold for domestic use.
