Confirming rumors that have been current for some months that Supt. M.B. Myer of the city schools, was planning to go into government work, came the announcement last week that the board has accepted his resignation. Mr. Myer will be in the Internal Revenue Department and is already temporarily assigned as collector in the area around Russell. Mr. Jos. A. Parsons, who had been employed as coach and manual arts instructor, has been elected to fill the superintendent's vacancy.

A letter from Elizabeth Grubb Hiebert says a group of former Marion folks living in the Los Angeles area are planning a big Marion reunion to be July 11 at Lincoln Park.

Mrs. Frank Hagans, director of Girl Scouting, announced the following girls from Marion who will go July 4 for a 10-day stay at Camp Mary Dell, Abilene: Wanda Williams, Donna Hobein, Patsy Harris, Janice Socolofsky, and Jean Hagans.

Mrs. Robert Amick entertained Tuesday afternoon with a picnic and swimming party at the Country Club in honor of the birthday anniversary of her daughter Norma Jean. Those present were Katherine Thies of Wichita, Jeanne Carpenter, Phyllis Beu, LaVerna Knight, Mary Louise Tibbetts, Wanda Hannaford, and Jackie Hawbecker.

The following young people enjoyed a picnic Monday evening at the lake: Miss Kay Fisher of Wichita, Miss Virginia Dahm of Jewell, Miss Corrine Pierce, Miss Verlea Oyer, Miss Hannah Mae Gunther, Miss Fernetta Stenzel, Miss Eileen Hoover, Bud Rhodes, Bud Pierce, and Fritz Hayen.

The Maritime "M" award for outstanding production was given the E.A. Watkins Manufacturing Co., Wichita, this past week by the government. Among the citations given employees for excellent work was the name of Phil Pierce, son of Mrs. Lillian Pierce. On the honor roll of this company's list is the name of Dwight Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Allen, now in service.
