Virgil Wiebe and Carol Wilcox, two of the local Boy Scout leaders, took a group of boys on an overnight hike to Chingawasa Springs where the boys camped for the night, cooked their breakfast, and hiked back to town. Several of the boys fished and a big skillet of fish was added to the breakfast menu. Boys who went were Bob Hagans, Elton Petersen, Forrest Kelsey, J.D. and Don Wright, Dennis Youk, and Billy Gleason.

Sgt. Dorman Becker, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Becker of Durham, who will be stationed in a camp at Pittsburgh, Pa., and Miss Jewell C. Davis of Oswego, were married Monday afternoon, July 12, at the Lutheran parsonage at Durham by Rev. Martin Pullman.

Mrs. Paul Keazer invited a number of children Tuesday afternoon for a party in honor of Bill Remmers of Davenport, Iowa, who with his mother is visiting relatives here. The afternoon was spent playing games. Those invited were Jackie Ford, Kay Navrat, Jeanette Russell, Nancy Keazer, Norma Sly, Leland Deines, Micky Anderson, and Joyce Keazer.

A group of girlhood friends got together Thursday night at the lake and had a picnic. A grand time was had by Mrs. Bernice Siebert Corley, Mrs. Mabel Ray Remmers, Mrs. Clarice Case Williams, Mrs. Mildred Loveless Skinner, Mrs. Norma McCullough Hannaford, Mrs. Faith McCullough Zimmerman, Mrs. Mildred Good Belcher, Mrs. Freda Greer Platt, Mrs. Lenore Wheeler Sutton, and Edith Greer.

Mrs. Gail Merrill entertained Monday evening in honor of her son Max's 12th birthday. The guests played Bingo and outdoor games after which Mrs. Merrill served ice cream and cake. Those present were Donna Hobein, Wanda Williams, Ruth Byram, Dennis Youk, J.D. Wright, Bill Griggs, Howard Mehlinger, Maurice Hollar, and John Newcomer.
