The banking room of the Marion National Bank has been greatly improved the last week by extensive repairs. New flooring has been put in, the old grill has been removed, and the lobby space has been enlarged. Low glass counter shields have been installed instead of the old grill work, which greatly modernizes and improves the appearance of the bank.

Elmer Pritz, who has operated a car repair shop on West Main for several years, will report at Fort Riley Aug. 15 where he will be employed under a Civil Service job.

A group of boys surprised Cadet Charles Linn Monday. They took him swimming and when they got back to his home Mrs. Linn served a lovely two course dinner. Places were marked for Charles, Bob Ecker, Bob Hoover, Winslow Colburn, Bill Wright, Chas. Sharp, Bill Perry, Junior Province, Malcolm Pfautz, Packet Turner, Jack Summervill, and Mr. Linn.

Mrs. Leon Knight and daughters Wilma Jean and LaVerna, Miss Clara Duncan, and Charlene Youk enjoyed a picnic supper Friday evening at the waterworks park.

Mrs. Roscoe King entertained at lunch Tuesday in honor of the birthdays of Wanda Hannaford and Mr. King. Places were marked for Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hannaford, Wanda, Buddy, and Mary Margaret and Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe King, Florence Irene and Mary Helen.

Miss Helen Loveless, who is a technician at the Army hospital at El Paso, will arrive the last of the week for a week's vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Loveless.
