The buildings at the hospital site in Marion still remain for sale, according to John Wheeler, chairman of the board of directors. The buildings which must be torn down or moved from the site included a 9-room house, a garage, a chicken house, a coal shed, and a small building.
A flyer's club has been organized and incorporated for the purpose of purchasing a plane or planes for the members on a cooperative plan and to provide cheaper hourly rates for flying, Roscoe King reports. The incorporaters are: Oliver Unruh, Hillsboro; Floyd Padgett, Roscoe King, H.C. Post, Bill Schlotz and Melvin Christner Jr., all of Marion.
Marion's new Gamble Store, with Ernie Holmes as owner and manager, has set the date of February 11 for its grand opening. The store building, located at 325 E. Main, was leased last October by Mr. Holmes and since that time many improvements have been made in preparation for opening.
Marion High School announces the coming production of the annual junior class play on February 27 and 28 in the high school auditorium. Cast of the play, "A Credit to the Family," includes Forrest Kelsey, Betty Williams, Richard Call, Gladys Eitzen, Edna May Winter, Barbara Mohn, Rose Marie Dvorak, Bettie Holmes, J.D. Wright, Don Van Buren, Patsy Harris, Donna Christensen, John Blankley, and Kenneth Conyers.
Bob Schaeffler and Dr. L.G. Yeager of Hillsboro filed suit in district court Friday against the Hillsboro mayor and council seeking a permanent injunction against the construction of a municipal light and power plant in Hillsboro, for which a contract was made last week. John E. Wheeler is attorney for the plaintiff. David W. Wheeler Jr. is attorney for the city of Hillsboro.
Miss Phyllis Suffield was honored at a surprise party at her home last Thursday evening in celebration of her 17th birthday. Guests were Juanita Gutsch, Wanda Ireland, Shirley Collett, Jerry Lou Johnson, Dorothy and Darlene Richmond and Nancy Allen.
