Mrs. Herman Bartel was surprised and delighted while attending the Kaw Theatre Feb. 11 to see her husband, Pfc. Herman Bartel, in the news reel. He was in one of two columns of Yanks who were marching captured Germans through a German town.

Raleigh Johnson has moved his barber shop this week into the new building he has just completed two doors west of his former location. The new construction also includes enlarging the front of the Cozy Café and bringing it out even with the other buildings.

One hundred pounds of olive drab yarn sent by the Red Cross to be made up in Marion County into turtleneck sweaters, sleeveless sweaters, and mufflers, has been received. Mrs. Harry Harris, knitting chairman, asks that women who will help make these articles call for the yarn.

Sub Debs met at the home of Helen Hett Thursday evening and elected the following officers: Jeanne Carpenter, president; Wanda Hannaford, vice president; Phyllis Beu, secretary; Norma Jean Amick, treasurer; and Margie Frazier, sergeant at arms.

The Loyal Sisters of the Evangelical church will enjoy a tea party at the home of Mrs. Phil Stenzel tonight, Thursday.

Patricia Kruse celebrated her ninth birthday February 9 by inviting nine little girls to a party at her grandfather's house in Marion. Classmates present were Marlys Rupp, Phyllis Soyez, Pauline Minear, Nancy Broadstreet, Patricia Moon, Nancy Burkholder, Karen Brodhead and Bonnie Roberts.
