One-third of the amount to be raised in the community for the erection of the proposed community hospital has been secured, John Wheeler, chairman of the board of directors, announces. Pledges passed the $50,000 mark today. Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, who have agreed to maintain and operate the hospital after its erection, expect to contribute $50,000 to the $200,000 needed.

Arthur Schlehuber, who has been engaged in farming six miles south of Marion, has been employed to manage the new firm recently moved to Marion, the Midwest Tractor and Sales Company. He began his new duties Monday.

Mrs. George Beaston returned Monday from El Dorado, where she had been visiting her son, A.J. Coe and family. A.J. is being sent to the Aleutian Islands by the Inland Construction Co. He will work on government contracts under government orders.

The junior high operetta, "Days of the Kerry Dancing," will be given Friday evening in the high school auditorium. The story concerns a grandmother and grandfather who are celebrating their 50th anniversary in America. They are reminded of the old days in Ireland. Parts will be played by Don Van Buren, Donna Hobein, Howard Mehlinger, Bob Reinke, Loyette Hollar, Betty Williams, J.D. Wright, Georgia Christensen, Elma Stubby, and Donna Christensen.

Seniors listed on the fourth six weeks Marion High School honor roll are Carolyn Hayen, Nancy Colburn, Vera Bell Province, Veona Wangerin, Delores Ann Mott, Harry Gilson, Mildred Garrison, Mary Jo Utting, Helen Wunsch, Louise Conyers, Vera Marie Mathew, and Ruth Skibbe. Juniors include Jim Hett, Helen Hett, Clara Grimes, Pauline Keazer, Leona Vinduska, Doris Dody, Betty Dody, Gene Nelson. Sophomores are Norma Jean Amick, Betty Thompson, LaVerna Knight, JoAnn Kelsey, LaNorma Schlotthauer, Betty Tiemeier, Harold Ehrlich, Phyllis Beu, Wanda Hannaford. Freshmen are Jean Hagans, Janice Socolofsky, Norma Jean Province and Sylvia Stika.
