Continued rains over the weekend, totaling 2.73 inches at Marion, brought streams through Marion to a bankful stage, causing apprehension over flood danger. Water was out over farm land adjoining the river and creeks in many places. Clearing skies Tuesday averted the danger.

An intensive campaign for pledges to the proposed community hospital is being made this week in Marion. Members of the Community Guild are canvassing the town today to make certain every resident is given the opportunity to contribute to the $200,000 fund being raised for the erection of the institution to be maintained and managed by the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood.

The senior class of Marion High School will present "That Crazy Smith Family," a three-act comedy, in the Marion High School auditorium Friday evening. The cast of characters include Cal Hayen, Don Larsen, Ed Wheeler, Dolores Ann Mott, Leslie Haas, Nancy Colburn, Vera Belle Province, Mary Jo Utting, Dennis Seifert, Bill Ollenberger, Bill Richardson and Ella Marie Gossen.

A simple but impressive wedding ceremony was performed Saturday evening by Judge Jay Hargett at the home of the bride uniting Miss Josephine Burkert and Mr. Irvin Kline in marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Weibert were the couple's only attendants.

In a ceremony at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida, Wm. T. Madison of Marion was graduated March 14 in the first class in naval aviation history to receive the silver and gold wings of a naval air crew man. The young man presently is on a 15-day leave and will spend part of it with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Powell of Marion.

Mrs. Leland Greenemeyer and son Stephen Lee, born March 25, left the Marion Hospital Wednesday to go to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hein of north of Marion. The baby's father, Pvt. Leland Greenemeyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Greenemeyer, is overseas.
