The official airport opening to be held Sunday afternoon at the newly designated Lakeside Airport promises to be a fine, big success, if the weather holds. A number of plane owners from El Dorado, Emporia, Salina, Newton and Wichita have accepted the invitation to be on hand for the event. The Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event, will sell refreshments throughout the afternoon.

T.J. Scully of Decatur, Ill., and W.T. Trapp, land specialist of Marceline, Mo., were guests at the Elgin Hotel from Wednesday to Sunday, here on business in connection with the Scully lands. Judge Jas. P. Coleman of Junction City was a guest at the hotel this week while hearing cases in the District Court.

A son, Korbin Lee Johnston, was born to James L. Johnston A/S and Mrs. Johnston at the Axtell Hospital at Newton October 7. Mr. Johnston remains in the hospital at Farragut, Idaho, where he is undergoing extensive dental repair. He was struck in the mouth with a bat during a baseball game some months ago and suffered a broken jaw and the loss of several teeth.

The boys and girls class of the junior high age group of the Presbyterian church, their guests and sponsors, Mrs. Robert Spencer and Mrs. Roger Hannaford, enjoyed a skating party at the Rankin rink Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Leland Weber entertained several children and their mothers at her home October 9 with a birthday party in honor of the son Gary Lee's first birthday. Those invited were Mrs. Vernon Weber and Janice Marie, Mrs. Lysle Russell, Johnny and Jeanette, Mrs. Ronald Johnson, Ronnie and Janet, Mrs. Willard Haas and Donna Mae, Mrs. Jimmie Knaak and Jimmie, Mrs. Fred Domke and Jerry, Mrs. L.W. Van Horne, and Mrs. C.W. Bell.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burkholder entertained Wednesday evening with a potluck supper and pinochle party. The following were present: Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stenzel, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Blankley, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dick, Mrs. August Hett Jr. and Mrs. Plato Kimball.
