The Boy Scout movement in Marion was revitalized Monday night when 13 scouts and some of their parents met in the scout house with Virgil Wiebe, scoutmaster, and Homer Stiller, who is assisting him. A hike is planned for Oct. 12. All scouts, and those interested in becoming scouts, are requested to gather at the park at 8 a.m.. They will return by 5 p.m.

George Miser, owner of the Western Auto Associate Store, was appointed Monday to fill the position of the city finance commissioner to replace E.F. Nelson, who has resigned.

Mr. and Mrs. Karl Vogel announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Evelyn Elaine, to Mr. Stanley Charles Anderson, son of Mr. Ben Anderson, also of Marion. The nuptial vows will be read Oct. 20 at the Methodist church, Rev. F.E. Good officiating.

The Paul Seifert Motor Company delivered the following new cars the past week: a Chevrolet Fleetmaster town sedan to Paul Siebert and a Chevrolet Fleetline Arrow sedan to George Baxter.

Mrs. Leland Weber entertained the following little folks and their mothers at a party Wednesday afternoon for her son, Gary Lee, who was celebrating his third birthday: Johnny Russell, Rose Mary Ollenberger, Charlotte Langley, Dickey Varenhorst, and Mrs. R.L. Bell and Mrs. Clarence Bell.

Larry Robertson, Marion, most recent polio patient, is improving, according to a report this Thursday morning from relatives. The disease has seemed to localize in his throat but he is able to swallow which is a decided improvement.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Winchester are moving into the apartment in the Winchester house on East Main, formerly occupied by Miss Luella Regier and Mrs. Leona Heiser, who have moved to the Reinke rental apartment. Mr. Winchester graduated recently from the Mohler Barber College in Kansas City, Mo., and is employed at the Johnson Barbershop. He served in the Army for seven years.

D.B. Jantz moved a house to his lots on N. Locust last Thursday morning. The house came from a farm northwest of Lehigh and promises to be a fine addition to that part of town. Alterations included the building on of a room and modernizing throughout.

The junior high football team came out on the long end of a 21-6 score Thursday in their first game of the season. Coming from the wrong end of a 6 to 0 score at the half, three touchdowns made by Dale Ecker, Don Ecker and Kent Richmond brought victory to Marion.
