Four boys from Marion left for Ft Leavenworth Monday to be inducted into the service. They were Monette Avery, Harry Chill, Carroll Wilcox, and Loren Halstead. Halstead, registered here, has been living in Kansas City. He is the husband of the former Miss Jackie Timberlake.

Frank Rhodes Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rhodes Sr. of Tampa, was reported missing in a telegram to his parents by the War Department. He was a paratrooper apparently with the 5th Army in Italy. The fact that they have received a letter from him, dated about a week after the reported missing date, however, lends doubt as to the correctness of the report, and all friends in Marion County, who are legion, fervently hope that the report will be proven untrue.

Junior Athena Club was entertained with a Halloween masquerade party Monday night at the home of Mrs. Ray Longhofer. Mrs. Eugene Knackstedt was assisting hostess. Mrs. Wyatt Cooper, dressed as a "Pistol Packin' Momma," won the prize for best costume. The club welcomed five new members: Miss Eunice Nelson, Miss Fernetta Stenzel, Miss Thelma Thompson, Miss Agnes Wiens, and Mrs. Ed Good.

Leaders and members of the four Boy Scout patrols are: FOX patrol, Forrest Kelsey, leader, Warren Hayen, Don Wright, Don Van Buren, James Richmond, Marion Hett. OWL patrol: Bob Reinke, leader, Bill Greason, Howard Mehlinger, H.J. Grove, Duward Klassen, Dean Hansen, Melvin Christner. COBRA patrol: Elton Petersen, leader, Bill Griggs, Keith Kelsey, Bill Childs, Tommy Werts, Richard Reddig, Earl Grimes. BEAVER PATROL: Bob Hagans, leader, J.D. Wright, Dennis Youk, Durward Oblander, Wayne Kelsey, Dale Klassen.

The case of the missing Bruce Smoll, who disappeared while hitchhiking to Wichita, brings the search back to Marion for a starter. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Smith of Lincolnville, upon viewing a home movie shown by the boy's father, are positive he is the boy they hauled to Marion on the day of his disappearance.
