A special Halloween costume party is being planned for next Thursday night October 30, at the Roll-In-Rink, just north of Marion on Walnut Street. Quite a number of nice prizes are being offered by Marion merchants for best costumes. The public is invited.
A sizable group, approximately 45 planes, of the Flying Farmers of Kansas, under the direction of their president, Geo. Galloway of Waukeeney, stopped at the Marion Airport Monday afternoon on their way to a special meeting in Manhattan.
Morning Star went over the top again Thursday evening at the cake walk and took in $147. Miss Margie Frazier and Don Schlotz got the expensive box of candy for the most popular couple which brought $18.
Sarabel Wolf celebrated her birthday with a slumber party Friday night at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Richardson. Breakfast was served at the park where the guests played tennis. The party included Sarabel, Patricia Henry, Mary Margaret Hannaford, Juanita Ford, Alice Ward and Claire Hyde.
Janice Socolofsky of Marion has been named as a member of the Symphonic Chorus at Emporia State Teachers College. Miss Socolofsky, a freshman in physical education at Emporia State, is the daughter of Mrs. Alex Socolofsky, Marion.
Henry Waner, who lives near Florence in Marion County, is featured in an article in the November issue of Capper's Farmer entitled "Rugged Front End." A picture of a running gear assembly built on the Waner place accompanied the article.
Army veterans of World War II of Marion, who have been authorized by the War Department to wear either the Victory Medal or the American Defense Medal, may obtain the medals from Sgt. J.C. Svoboda, local Army recruiter, whose office is in the VFW clubroom.
