Jean Dixon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Dixon, is a member of the first all-Kansas unit of the Women's Army Corps, now training at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., as part of the new All-State WAC Division. The Kansans were sworn in Oct. 21 at Topeka and arrived at Fort Oglethorpe Oct. 23 for training. The Dixons have another daughter in the WACs. Corporal Claudine Dixon recently received a promotion to that rank. She is a company clerk at present.

An extensive program of redecoration and repair is being pushed at the Christian church. The roof is being remodeled and repaired and the interior of the church is being completely refinished.

Mr. and Mrs. June Jost are the happy parents of a baby girl born Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the Marion hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Loveless are expecting their daughter Helen the first of the week for a brief visit before going to Wichita where she will do physical therapy work in Dr. Rombold's office. Miss Loveless has been working in a health center in Milwaukee, Wisc.

Misses Fernetta Stenzel and Hannah Mae Gunther visited in Wichita Saturday and Sunday with Miss Kay Fisher and Miss Margaret Parker.

Miss Patsy Harris entertained a group of friends last Wednesday evening in honor of her birthday. The evening was spent playing games. A lovely three-tiered birthday cake centered the table from which refreshments were served. Those present were Anne Burkholder, Betty Williams, Nancy Myer, Loyette Hollar, Bob Reinke, Dennis Youk, Bill Greason, Max Merrill, Tim Burkholder, and Patsy.

Members of the Sub Deb club and their sponsors, Mrs. Wm. Blackim and Miss Lois Bibler, were hostesses at a delightful party and dance Monday evening at the country club honoring their new pledges Lois Mathiot, Mary Lou Williams, Pauline Keazer, and Helen Penland. Other guests were Mrs. Chas. Hayen, Fritz Hayen and Jim Hayes of Cape Girardeau, Mo., John Brose, Joe Steiner Boyd Higgins, Dan Grubb, Pal Parsons, Bill Raymo, Bill Richardson, Ted Werts, Ed Beu, Harry Chill, and Bud Pierce.
