It's a small world after all. Two Lincolnville boys, Corp. Raymond Pritz, and 3rd Class Petty Officer William J. Mestan, recently met on the streets of London, neither having known previously that the other was in the world's largest city. Corp. Pritz is in the ground crew of the Eighth Air Force in England, and Yeoman 3rd Class Mestan is stationed at the American Embassy Office of the U.S. Naval Attache in London.
Monsignor John M. Sklenar of Pilsen moved this week into the home he purchased several years ago, on North Cedar, vacated some weeks ago by Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Nelson. Rev. Fr. Emil Kapaun who has been assistant to Msgr. Sklenar at Pilsen will carry on the work and it is expected that he will be appointed as in full charge of that parish.
Mary Alice Rees, freshman at Emporia Teachers College, has been elected secretary-treasurer of the Future Teachers of America organization at the college. She is the daughter of Mr. P.N. Rees.
The following canteen workers went to Newton Sunday night to work in the canteen there: Mesdames Leslie Powell, Alex Case, James Loney, Misses Leta Rees, Ada Woolheater, and Martha Hansen.
Mrs. Marvin Burkholder entertained Friday afternoon with a Halloween party for Nancy and Don Burkholder. Those present were Marlys Rupp, Phyllis Lipps, Pauline Minear, Peggy Weibert, Milly Lou Matthews, Patsy Hett, Marilyn Reh, Diana Herbert, Delores Lewellen, Marvin Wunsch, Michael Brodhead, Monty Frazier, Bill and Larry Burkholder, and Don and Nancy.
The high school play, "Student Queen" will be given Thursday evening at the high school auditorium. Parts will be played by Edwin Beu, Mary Helen King, Anna Lou Hoch, Delphas Mehlinger, Jeanne Carpenter, Lois Mathiot, Mildred Garrison, Bill Richardson, Pauline Keazer, Bob Edmunds, Donald Larsen, Mary Lou Williams, Dennis Seifert, Mary Jo Utting, and Boyd Higgins.
