More than 30 saddle horse owners and men interested in saddle horses from Marion and the four surrounding counties met and organized the Cottonwood Valley Saddle Horse Association last Thursday evening in the Chamber of Commerce rooms at the Marion Pharmacy. The 12 directors are Floyd Siebert, E.E. Phillips, John Mehl, Harry C. McFadden, J.J. Crowther, Bud McLinden, Harry Hefley, Emanuel Krch, John E Wheeler, Rex Siebert, Orville Miesse and June Jost.

The Community Guild will sponsor two one-act plays for the benefit of the new community hospital. They will be presented at the city building Nov. 30. "The Marriage Proposal" and "War Wife" will be produced by the following people: Betty Knackstedt, Peggy Lou Gerstenkorn, Harry Penland, Walter Madsen, Hayden See and Leslie Haas. Joan Wight will act as prompter.

The American Legion benefit carnival held during the afternoon and evening of Armistice Day was a most successful affair. Winners of the two $50 war bonds were Milton Schlotthauer and Charles Watson. A.L. Kirchner won the turkey, Evelyn Ollenberger was the lucky holder for the big pig, and Jay Mehl went away with the small pig.

Loyette Hollar invited the following girls to her home Tuesday evening, November 7, to help her celebrate her birthday: Donna Powell, Betty Williams, Anne Burkholder, Patsy Harris, Naomi McIntosh, Dawna Summervill, Cherridah Mullikin, and Donna Hobein. The evening was spent playing games. Refreshments, including a birthday cake, were served.

A.J. Coe who has been working with a construction company in the Aleutian Islands for the past eight months visited with his mother, Mrs. George Beaston and Mr. Beaston from Friday until Wednesday.

Six girls from the Girl Reserves and four women from the YWCA attended a fall-winter conference at Hope. Those going were Mrs. Robert Mathiot, Mrs. Joe Parsons, Mrs. A.L. Kirchner, Miss Eunice Nelson, Ruth Ann Kline, Betty Dody, Maxine Zellers, Virginia Hayen, Jacqueline Hawbecker.
