A Marion boy, one of the first to go into service, who went with the National Guard unit, was killed in Alabama. Pfc. Harvey Houdyshell died as the result of an auto accident. He was stationed at Camp Rucker. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Houdyshell, now living at Herington. Three surviving brothers are in the service: Pfc. Walter Houdyshell, Cpl. Dave Houdyshell, also of Rucker; and 2/c George Houdyshell at Farragut, Idaho.

In attendance at the annual district rally of the Boy Scouts held Thursday and Friday at the Marion County Park and Lake were 26 scouts of the Marion troop. The following 10 received Tenderfoot badges: Robert Reinke, Bill Greason, Wayne Kelsey, Melvin Christner Jr., Bill Childs, J.D. Wright, Dennis Youk, Durward Klassen, Durward Oblander, and Marion Hett.

The Girl Reserves of Marion High School gave a Sadie Hawkins party Monday night in the gym. The boys were honored by the girls in true Li'l Abner style. They came dressed like that comic strip character. A few games were played followed by refreshments of cocoa and rolls.

Mr. and Mrs. James Broadwater are moving from Wichita to Marion and will live in an apartment at the Cottage Hotel. Mr. Broadwater is again district court reporter after having quit that position to go into the Army.

The Kaw Theatre will run a special Armistice Day matinee Thursday afternoon showing their two current hits, "My Kingdom for a Cook" starring Charles Coburn, and "Air Raid Warden" with Laurel and Hardy.

Saturday evening, at eight o'clock, in the Aulne Methodist church, a wedding of interest was solemnized by Rev. A.R. Poe when Miss Lucille Klein of Marion became the bride of Mr. Ernest Hett. Both of the young folk graduated from Marion High School. A reception was held in the church basement following the ceremony.

Mrs. Sherman Frick of Durham was interviewed over the air Wednesday morning and received an orchid while attending the program, "Breakfast at Sardi's" in California. It was a reward from having the largest family of any in the audience. Mrs. Frick has 10 children
