NOVEMBER 30, 1944

The Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded Lieutenant Niles Raymond Siebert, USNR, posthumously "for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as pilot of a dive bomber during a strike against an enemy Japanese airfield in the vicinity of the Marianas Islands of June 24, 1944." Siebert, 27, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Siebert of Canada, Kansas.

The executive staff of a Dramatics Club among students of Marion High School met and organized this Monday evening at the home of Bettie Lou Propp. The staff includes Pauline Keazer, president; Jeanne Carpenter, vice president; Dorene Stenzel, treasurer; Bettie Lou Propp, secretary; Mary Lou Williams, business manager' Ella Marie Reinke and Vivian Pierce, publicity; Bob Edmunds, stage adviser; Bob Wiebe, director; Paul Hansen, assistant director; and Mrs. Harry Propp, general adviser.

Members of the football squad who suited up for the Thanksgiving game were entertained Monday evening at the city building with a steak dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Beaston, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Brose were hosts. The boys included Harold Ehrlich, Art Thomas, Junior Case, Rosse Case, Jack Beaston, Johnny Brose, Bill Higgins, Leon Hayen, Warren Hayen, Dwight Waddell, Dean Waddell, Keith Kelsey, Don Hoover, Ted Werts, Bob Edmunds, Wallace Good, Glenn Mills, Clyde Hiebert, Jim Hett, Vernon Heidel, Gene Nelson, Vernon Vogel, Howard Collett, Dale Vogel, Paul Hansen, Carl Jantzen, and Bill Raymo. Additional guests included the coach, Wilbur Melcher.
