The fate of three propositions submitted by the City Commissioners to the electorate will be decided at the election April 3. Question number one submits the proposition that the city participate in the cost of constructing and equipping the proposed community hospital to the extent of $15,000. The second question is should the city issue bonds in the sum of $10,000 to purchase and develop an airport and the third concerns levying a property tax of one-half mill for a period not to exceed two years for a fund to be used for securing manufacturing institutions.
A memorial service honoring Pvt. Bob Haas, who was killed in action in the South Pacific October 4, 1944, will be held Easter Sunday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Betty Louise Kiddoo of Marion and Lorene Louise Hawkins and Helen Lucille Kleiber of Tampa have been appointed second lieutenants in the Army Nurse Corps and will report for duty at Camp Carson, Colorado, soon to begin the necessary period of Army training.
Dolores Hobson was honored with a birthday supper March 21. She celebrated her 20th birthday with Betty Lou Frazier, Marjorie Frazier, Rachel Goertz, Clarice Barrett, Jerry Shields, Cleo Kline, and Virginia Hobson.
