The Siebert Brothers general merchandise store, owned and operated by Wallace and Oscar Siebert for the past 33 years, was sold effective April 1 to Harry Gossen of Hillsboro. The Siebert Brothers will continue to operate the grain elevator in Canada.

One of the most beautiful sights in an extraordinarily early spring in Marion County was a pear orchard a mile from Cedar Point. The acres of these mature trees laden with blooms - a rare thing for this part of the country - last week gave promise of a bumper crop if luck holds and the orchard misses a freeze.

J.B. Betts, of Topeka, the contractor for the new court house was in town a couple of days this week looking after the progress of the work. A great deal of lumber is already on the ground. Workmen will begin hauling sand for the foundation work in a short time.

Marion High School seniors have chosen a murder mystery, "Murder Mansion" as their class play to be presented April 12 in the high school auditorium. Parts will be played by LaVerna Knight, Suzanne Wheeler, Mary Louis Tibbetts, Jeanne Carpenter, Norma Jean Amick, Phyllis Beu, Jack Beaston, Wallace Good, Howard Collett, and Dwight Waddell.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klein of south of town are the parents of a daughter, Kathleen Ann, born March 31 at the Goessel hospital.

Miss Nancy Colburn, daughter of Mrs. Braden C. Johnston, has the role of Julia Naughton in the Broadway production, "Claudia," to be presented at the College of Emporia April 9. Miss Colburn, sophomore, is a member of Pi Gamma Mu, national social science fraternity, and is active in many other campus organizations and activities.

Rev. and Mrs. G.P. Gaede, Mrs. Nettie Behnfeldt and Richard and Marvin Smith were dinner guests, Tuesday, of Mary and James Coffin, who were celebrating their birthdays.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klose entertained the following young people at a party Wednesday night: Misses Doris Wangerin, Margaret Ruby and Wanda Lucas, Vernon Wangerin, Eddie and Charles Stenzel, Lavern Ottensmeier and Albert, Eddie and Harry Klose.
