One of the most beautiful sights of this or any other spring is the Silver Moon climbing rose which covers the whole east side of the Keller house and climbs to the second story windows, at least 18 feet from the ground. Hundreds upon hundreds of white blossoms beautifully formed and with stems long enough to satisfy the most critical, cover the vine which was planted some 15 years ago as just a slip by the late Mrs. L.F. Keller.

The pupils and teachers of the Bown-Corby School presented a May Festival at the south entrance to the school May 14. Miss Diana Herbert was crowned Queen of the festival. Two May poles, one on either side of the festival court were wound during the program.

Marion High School track men won the regional meet in Class B Division at Manhattan Friday. Dwight Waddell again was star of the show by virtue of winning first in the 880-yard run in 2 minutes 8.2 seconds.

Seventy-five rural school eighth grade graduates will receive their diplomas May 20 at exercises to be held in the city auditorium.

Vicki Black, Judy Coons and Diana and Billy Herbert presented a tap dance number on the May Festival program at McPherson Wednesday afternoon. Carmen Siebert also is one of the group, but was unable to be present as she is ill with the measles.

"The Enchanted Forest" provided the setting for the junior-senior banquet held Thursday evening at the high school gym. The invocation was given by Rose Marie Avery with Don Schlotz serving as toastmaster. The program was presented by Janice Socolofsky, Imogene Mathiot, Sylvia Stika, Wallace Good, Jim Garrison, Alta Stenzel, and Miss Thomas.

Edwin Westerhaus of Florence, a 1942 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law, began work Monday in the law office of David W. Wheeler Jr.

Winners at the drawing held in the Tatge Bros. store Saturday night from the names of the 178 people registering there throughout the day were: Bert Fox, a mirror, and a room of wallpaper to each of three people: R.J. Klein, Marion, Mrs. Burt Jewett, Elmdale, and Victoria Stika, Marion.
