In a letter to S.W. Williamson, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, Dr. O.C. McCandless, director of the County Health Department, gave official notice to the commissioners that the water in the lake does not meet the minimum requirements for bathing purposes required by state law and suggests that the bathing beach be posted with the following signs — WATER UNSAFE FOR BATHING.

A new business, Bryan and Shoemaker's Garage, opened its doors to business this week at 405 East Main, in quarters which housed Parker's Garage some years back.

John L. Brose S1/C called his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Leo Brose, from San Francisco Sunday morning. He has spent the past 20 months at Mani Cani in the Philippines. He expects to be home on leave soon.

Joe A. Parsons, superintendent of schools for the past three years, resigned verbally to members of the board of education at a recent meeting of the board.

Jack Summervill received a deep laceration on his arm Monday morning when the roof he was repairing at Newsom's Greenhouse gave way, allowing him to fall on a piece of broken glass. He was cared for in the Marion hospital for a few days.

Brice Durbin has resigned his position as superintendent of the Burns Consolidated Schools which he held 10 years and will take the position of Dean of the Kansas City College of Commerce.

Invitations are out for the wedding of Miss Wilma Jean Knight, daughter of Mrs. Martha Knight and William Milo Pierce, son of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Pierce at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, June 2.

Miss Coleen Vogel was hostess to a slumber party Thursday evening at the home of Miss Emelia Krispense. Those present were Donna Powell, Anita Seifert, Rose Marie Avery, Violet Krispense, Alta Stenzel and Coleen. The entire group had breakfast at the Dinette.
