The Marion Bakery, which for the past several years has been owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Dave Greenemeyer, was sold this week to Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Baker of Trenton, Mo. Mr. Baker immediately took over operation of the business. Mrs. Baker and small son will arrive in Marion this weekend

Al Sparks, genial Elgin Hotel proprietor, is smiling more expansively than usual since the Indianapolis Speedway race. The car which won the race was built by none other that his nephew, Art Sparks of Pasadena, Calif., racing car designer.

A.J. Shull, 36, blond, six feet four inches, was employed Monday night by the Marion Board of Education to head the Marion schools during the next school term, James Meisner, chairman of the board, said today.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barrett, Vicki and Jon arrived from Philips, Texas, Monday to make Marion their home. Mr. Barrett will operate the Farm and Home Electric shop, General Electric dealer, at 411 E. Main.

The marriage of Miss Jean Knight, second daughter of Mrs. Martha Knight, and William Pierce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Pierce, was solemnized in a beautiful ceremony at the Methodist church Sunday, June 4, at four in the afternoon.

A baby girl, Phyllis Nadine, weighing 8 pounds 6 ounces, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stenzel June 1, 1946, in the Marion Hospital.

Flyers who left from the Marion Municipal Airport Friday, May 24, for Hutchinson to attend the big air gathering there were Wharton Hoch, Floyd Padgett, Melvin Christner Jr., Melvin Christner Sr., Bernice Hahn, Adeline Ferrell, Harry Harris, Virgil Hoopes, Bill Fey, Richard Brodhead, Maurice Brooker, Norman Clothier, Lloyd Savage, and Wesley Loewen.

Tampa was the winner of the softball tournament held at Durham May 26-28. Players selected to the all-tournament team included Ted Bernhardt, Leo Costello, Gene Costello, Wilbur Steinert, A. Bentz and Art Mueller, Tampa; Irwin Janzen, Tip McFadden and Ehrlich, Canada; and Dies, Lehigh.
