According to the census taken in Marion of this year, Marion County gained a total of 238 people over the previous year, to reverse the trend of recent years. Townships lost 266 people, but the towns gained 504.

The harvest is on in Marion County for approximately 125,000 acres of wheat which on the average is the best the county has seen in many years, according to F.A. Hagans, county agent.

A load of Shorthorn steers shipped by J.J. Klenda and son, Martin B., rated the day's top price of $17.25 on the Kansas City market one day last week, according to the Daily Drover's Telegram. Twenty head of the animals scaled an average of 1,439 pounds.

Pfc. Albert Klose arrived home June 19 from El Paso, Texas, for a 60 day furlough. He has spent some time overseas, returning to the states, May 28, and was wounded severely. He will spend his furlough visiting with relatives and friends in Ramona, Tampa and Marion.

Carlita Bass, Bruce Coe, Floyd Baxter and Vernon Bowers have all had their tonsils removed at the hospital in the past week.

Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Bailey have received word from their son, S/Sgt. Robert Bailey, that he was united in marriage on May 29 with Jean Tollman, an English girl. Miss Tollman has been working as a bookkeeper in a radio plant. S/Sgt. Bailey, who has been stationed at Hitchens Hertz, Courtley Grove, expects to be home in the near future. His bride will be unable to secure transportation here for several months.

Martha Hansen, Ilene, Arlene and Thelma Pierce, Joan Kelsey and LaVaughn Christensen had a slumber party at the lake Tuesday night.
