'School Days' is theme of Burdick Labor Day festival
The 34th annual Burdick Labor Day celebration will be held Sept. 2, 3, and 4.
The 2 p.m. Monday parade will follow the theme, "School Days." It will be followed by a pedal power contest and horseshoe contest.
The day will begin with a fun run/walk at 8 a.m. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. at the north end of Main Street.
Coffee and rolls provided by Hebron Lutheran WELCA and bake sale provided by Burdick UMW will be available afterward at the fire station. An arts and crafts fair will be at the shelter house all day.
Burdick Hustlers 4-H Club will sponsor kids' games from 10-11:30 a.m., and free kids' crafts will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the shelter house. An inflatable slide also will be available.
Musical entertainment during the 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. lunch hour will be provided by Tony Carl of Wilsey, and the Alex Stuchlik family.
Centre FFA will serve a barbecue lunch. Homemade ice cream will be available at the Hageberg garage before and after the parade. The 4-H club will run a concession stand.
A co-recreational softball tournament will take place Saturday at the ball diamond. The concession stand will offer bratwurst, hamburgers, and hot dogs.
The Sunday line-up includes a community church service at 9 a.m. at the tennis court, with a message by Pastor Rick Branson, and a community choir directed by Lynley Remy. Rolls and coffee will be available following the service. Everyone is asked to bring lawn chairs.
Lee Remy will serve as master of ceremonies for a 7:30 p.m. program featuring the Routh family of Augusta and Lana's Dance Troupe. Homemade ice cream will be served after the program.
The celebration is sponsored by Burdick Council of Clubs and Corlberg-Smith American Legion.
