ARCHIVE

A matter of preference

A relative who has made more money than most folks could ever count, commented "I'm old enough to retire." His observation was true, but he won't.

It's not that he wants to make more money, for he has no need to do so. His finances are ample and adequate. He'll keep working because he enjoys it.

Folks who've worked a lifetime in a job they enjoy are not anxious to quit. But it's understandable that people who spend a lifetime putting the left nut on the rear wheel, or some such boring job, are anxious to hear the final whistle.

Looking back through the Marion County Record files, your Ol' Editor is impressed by the archives. Even in days when the staff and equipment were extremely short, the newspaper had sparkle.

We're proud of that.

And we're proud of the old Underwood typewriter, dial telephone, pica pole, and makeup rule we saved when new things came along.

They all work. So does the guy who used them.
