Accident claims life of Peabody teen
Fifteen-year-old Ben Bishop of Peabody was killed Monday night in a single vehicle accident east of Peabody on 70th, about one-half mile west of Quail Creek Road. John Goff, 15, also of Peabody, was critically injured and air lifted by helicopter to HCA Wesley hospital in Wichita.
He is in critical but stable condition.
The boys had been fishing and when they were late coming home, Terri Bishop, Ben's mother, went in search of them with a friend of Ben's, Rob Oursler. Bishop and Oursler came upon the accident scene and Oursler phoned for help.
Peabody firefighters and police officers responded, as did the Marion County Sheriff's Department.
At press time, services are pending.
