Accidents
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Adam Michael Burrell, 14, El Dorado, was northbound on U.S.-77 just south of 80th at 00:39 a.m. Aug. 27, being pursued by law enforcement. Burrell drove off the east side of the road into a field and damaged a fence belonging to Doyle Creek Land and Cattle, Florence. Joshua D. Newcomer, 15, El Dorado, was a passenger in the 1981 GMC Pickup. No one was injured, reports Deputy Mike Vineski.
Veronica A. Konecny, 71, 1920 275th, Marion, was northbound on Remington just south of 240th at 8:45 p.m. Aug. 29. A deer came from the east ditch and Konecny, driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala, was unable to avoid hitting it. Konecny was not injured, reports Deputy Larry Starkey.
Daniel L. Bernhardt, 42, 324 N. Cedar, Hillsboro, was eastbound on U.S.-56 just west of Limestone at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 29. An unknown object flew from a vehicle in front of Bernhardt's 1995 Dodge Ram and broke the windshield, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.
John E. Morris, 51, Iola, was southbound on U.S.-77 at 40th at 8:41 p.m. Aug. 31. Robert E. Findley, 17, 116 S. Olive, Peabody, was eastbound on 40th. Findley, driving a 1984 Chevrolet S-10, did not stop at the stop sign and was struck by the 1998 Toyota Corolla driven by Morris. Passenger is the Morris vehicle was Lyla G. Morris, 50, Iola. Chloe R. Boley, 16, Burns, was a passenger in the Findley vehicle. Both Findley and Boley were taken by Florence Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reports Undersheriff Randal Brazil.
Daniel Silbereisen, 18, Ochtendung, Germany, was northbound on Falcon just north of 150th at 2 p.m. Aug. 17. Silbereisen, driving a 1993 Olds Cutlass belonging to Joseph R. Wilson, Hillsboro, lost control on loose sand and crossed the road striking an embankment on the west side, reports Deputy Starkey. No one was hurt.
Rodney Moyer, 59, Manhattan, was southbound on U.S.-77 just south of 20th at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 11. Moyer, driving a 2001 Ford F-150 belonging to Winston Drilling, Carthage, Texas, swerved to miss an animal and lost control. The vehicle overturned at least two and a half times. Moyer was taken by Florence Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reports Sheriff Lee Becker.
Joey A. Brunner, 22, 2737 Remington Rd., Marion, was northbound on Quail Creek just north of 300th at 7:15 p.m. Aug. 26 when an unknown type of animal came from the ditch. Brunner, driving a 1986 Pontiac Firebird, swerved to miss the animal and went into the west ditch. Fence posts belonging to Daniel Rudolph, 2965 Timber, Lincolnville, were damaged, reports Deputy Vineski. Brunner was not injured.
