Accidents
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Bertha A. Morgan, 83, Ottawa, was westbound on U.S.-56 and Santa Fe Street, Hillsboro, at 8:36 a.m. Sept. 20. Janice M. Braden, 50, Douglass, also was westbound in a 1999 Ford Taurus. Morgan, driving a 1991 Chrysler Lebaron, stopped behind traffic and was struck by Braden's vehicle. Maxine L. Peed, 74, Williamsburg, was a passenger in Morgan's vehicle. No one was injured, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.
Jack L. Grosse, 63, 1377 U.S.-50, Peabody, was stopped and unloading in a yard at 19 Echo Lane. While dumping the contents of the trailer, the 1986 International became top heavy and off balanced and fell over to the driver's side. Grosse Construction is the owner of the vehicle, reports Deputy Aaron Waddell. Grosse was trapped in the vehicle, with possible injuries.
Randall L. Hagen, 49, 907 East C, Hillsboro, was westbound on U.S.-56 just west of Mustang at 8:45 p.m. Sept. 14 when a deer came from the south ditch and was struck and killed. The 2002 Mercury Sable he was driving is owned by Hillsboro Ford, Hillsboro. Passengers in the vehicle were Vianne Hagen, 47, of the home; Eric Rector, 25, McPherson, and Jenny Rector, 22, McPherson. No one was injured, reports Deputy Larry Starkey.
Janice E Voth, 39, Newton, was southbound on Alamo Road just north of 110th at 5:45 a.m. Sept. 10. Barbara J. Britton, 1165 Alamo, Goessel, was backing out of the driveway. Voth, driving a 1988 Dodge Caravan, applied brakes and hit Britton's 2002 Ford F150 on the rear passenger's side. Chrystiana M. Voth, 12, Newton, was a passenger in the Voth vehicle. No one was injured.
