Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Troy Madron Jr., 36, 220 Chicago, Lost Springs, was southbound on Quail Creek just north of 310th at 5:30 a.m. May 2. A deer came from the east ditch and was struck by Madron's 1992 Ford Taurus. The vehicle is registered to Valerie Madron, of the home. Deputy Larry Starkey states Madron was not injured.

At 3:50 a.m. May 7, an unknown driver hit a gas meter in the alley at 100 S. Jefferson, Hillsboro. The vehicle involved was a 1992 Oldsmobile, four-door, burgundy, passenger car. The meter was property of Ellis B. Ottoson, 110 1/2 S. Jefferson, Hillsboro. Damage to the meter was more than $1,000, reports Assistant Chief Jesse Hiebert.

Crystal S. Kukuk, 23, 408 West B, Hillsboro, was backing up from the west side of Casey's, 314 North Ash, Hillsboro. A 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, property of Stephen Gillet, 801 North Locust, Peabody, was parked on the east side of the gas pump island. The left rear of Kukuk's 2003 Ford Escape struck the left front of Gillet's vehicle. No one was injured, reports Officer David Funk.

Jonathan J. Jasper, 24, Humboldt, parked his 2000 Ford Focus behind a gas meter at 405 East First Street, Hillsboro. Jasper drove forward, striking the meter. Damage is estimated at more than $1,000 to the meter which is property of Atmos Energy, reports Officer B. Richards.

Breanna L. Baldridge, 19, 400 South Jefferson, Hillsboro, was westbound on U.S.-50 at Nighthawk at 4:15 p.m. April 27. Baldridge turned north onto Nighthawk and went into the west ditch, striking a right-of-way marker. She was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang registered to Charles P. Sauerwein of Cimarron. Kassie Bradley, 20, of the home was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputy Starkey states no one was injured.

Christine D. Unruh, 23, Hesston, was westbound on 190th just west of Old Mill at 7:45 p.m. May 6. A deer came from the north ditch and was struck by Unruh's 1999 Honda. Juan Gonzalez, 38, Hesston was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Deputy Starkey.

Michael J. Cline, 45, Conway Springs, was eastbound on U.S.-50 just west of Nighthawk at 8:48 p.m. May 6. His 1998 Mercury Sable struck a deer that had come from the south ditch. He was not injured, states Deputy Starkey.

Margaret Ann Clark, 31, 131 West 7th, Florence, was northbound on Sunflower just north of 150th at 5:30 a.m. April 26. A deer came from the east ditch and was struck by her 1991 Dodge Spirit. Ashden J. Alcorn, 2, and Kindleigh J. Clark, 1, both of the home, were passengers in the vehicle. Deputy Duane McCarty states they were not injured.

Ian V. Young, 64, Cannon Falls, Minn., was westbound on U.S.-50 at 4 p.m. April 29. A steering tire blew out on his 2001 Freightliner. When he got stopped the tire was on fire. The driver and an unknown person were unable to put out the fire. No injuries occurred, reports Deputy James Philpott.

Sometime prior to 7:16 a.m. March 3, a 1991 Ford Probe registered to Bobby D. Coe of Hamilton was traveling north on Sunrise at 210th. The vehicle went out of control, entered the north ditch, and rolled over stopping on its top, reports Deputy Philpott.

At 9:25 p.m. March 31, a 1998 Plymouth Voyager van driven by Sherylene K. Groening, 60, 2441 230th, Marion, backed from a parking stall at Marion Assisted Living, 200 Eisenhower Drive, Marion, when it struck a legally parked vehicle, a 1998 Toyota passenger car owned by Tillie D. Schmidt of Inman. Marion police officer Howard Kahler reported there were no injuries.

Derek W. Riggs, 15, 2392 U.S.-50, Florence, was driving a 1992 Plymouth Laser passenger car in Central Park Marion. According to officer Kahler, Riggs was heading east on a curve from a basketball court when the vehicle hit a large landscape rock and overturned. No one was injured. The car was registered to Bonnie Harrison, 211 S. Jefferson Street, Hillsboro.
