Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Calvin J. Meeks, 17, 202 South Church, Goessel, was eastbound on Commercial at 6:15 p.m. April 8. Janis M. Cerullo, 48, 300 South Buller, Goessel, was southbound on Buller. The front of Meeks' 2001 Ford F150 struck the right side of Cerullo's 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Meeks vehicle is registered to Charles Shipp of the home. Passengers in the Meeks vehicle were Travis Buller, 16, 646 140th, Hillsboro, and Ian Shultz, 15, 1164 North Alamo, Newton. Deputy Larry Starkey states there were no injuries.

Don Morgan, 21, 602 West Cementary, Burns, was eastbound on Broadway just east of Ohio at 2:08 p.m. April 2. Ronald Goodwin, 59, 404 West Cementary, Burns, was crossing the street at Broadway. Morgan, driving a 1998 Pontiac van could not stop in time and struck Goodwin's 1964 Hyster forklift. Morgan's vehicle is registered to Earl Winsor, 4675 NW 160th, El Dorado. Passenger in the vehicle was Julie Castleman, 10, of the home. No one was injured, reports Undersheriff Brazil.

Nicholas J. Ogden, 17, 210 Eisenhower, Hillsboro, and John H. Downing, 50, 108 North Coble, Marion were both westbound on 190th just west of K-256 at 6:44 p.m. April 1. Downing slowed down due to the sun in his eyes. Ogden, driving a 1992 Subaru Loyale, was unable to slow down and struck the rear of Downing's 1983 Buick Limited. Michael Roble, 18, 106 South Wilson, Hillsboro; Crystal Conner, 16, 2179 Quail Creek, Marion; and Nichole Nelson, 17, 110 North Coble, Marion were passengers in the Ogden vehicle. Joy Prest, 20, 108 North Coble, Marion, was a passenger in the Downing vehicle. Ogden and Prest were taken by Marion Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion. Ogden's vehicle is registered to Elaine Funk, of the home. Downing's vehicle is registered to Richard Smith, 1305 U.S.-77, Marion, reports Undersheriff Brazil.

Cordella Church, 76, 116 Washington, Marion, was eastbound on 190th just west of Quail Creek at 7:20 p.m. April 2. A deer came from the south ditch and was struck by Church's 1999 Plymouth Voyager. Undersheriff Brazil states Church was not injured.
