Accidents reported
Bettie C. Batt, 81, 111 Elm, Marion, was backing from her driveway on Elm Street in a 2003 Buick passenger car at 10:03 a.m. Feb. 1, and didn't see a 2005 Ford passenger car driven by Connie L. Rock, 74, 2130 Kruse Drive, Marion, southbound on Elm Street. Batt backed into the rear passenger door of the Rock vehicle. Donald D. Rock, 78, of the same address, was a passenger. Marion Police Officer Joshua Bryant reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Shannon D. James, 30, 333 S. Third, Marion, was southbound on South Third Street in a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup at 8:45 a.m. Feb. 7, and met a vehicle. Both vehicles slid on the icy roadway and James braked, slid off the street, and struck a mailbox. The second vehicle continued on southbound. Passengers in the pickup were Caulan R. James, 2, of the same address, and Madison R. James, no age given, 303 S. Roosevelt, Marion. There were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion Police Officer Robert Soyez.
Christopher J. Couts, 16, 904 240th, Hillsboro, was backing onto Memorial Drive in a 1990 Ford Thunderbird at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 9, and backed over a guardrail on the side of the drive, where the vehicle became stuck. The vehicle was registered to Candace R. Couts, of the same address. Hillsboro Police Officer Steven Janzen reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.
