Accidents reported
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Timothy R. McKnight, 46, Brownsboro, Texas, was westbound on U.S.-56 at K-15 at 3:25 p.m. March 18. Thomas D. Nelms, 33, 412 North Locust, Whitewater, also was westbound behind McKnight who had signaled to turn left at K-15. Nelms attempted to pass McKnight on the right. McKnight decided not to turn and swerved to the right. Nelms' 2002 Mack Maxi Cruise struck McKnight's 1994 Chevrolet 3500 truck. McKnight's vehicle is registered to Great Western Erectors, Dallas, Texas, and Nelms' vehicle is registered to Casey's Services Company, Ankeny, Iowa. Deputy Rollin Schmidt states there were no injuries.
Steven W. Breckenridge, 21, Fort Riley, was northbound on U.S.-56/77 at 270th at 4:30 a.m. March 10. A semi passed him and cut in too close. Breckenridge's 2005 Ford Explorer went off the roadway on the east side. The vehicle then crossed over the center and entered the west side shoulder and rolled two times. Breckenridge was taken by Marion County EMS to St. Luke Hospital. The vehicle is registered to Dick Edwards Auto Plaza, Junction City, reports Deputy Mike Vineski.
