Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Marlene A. Anduss, 71, 602 N. B Street, Ramona, was northbound on Remington Road near 260th in a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan at 1:45 p.m. June 27, when she fell asleep, entered an east ditch, and struck a telephone pole. The driver was transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reported Marion County Sheriff Sgt. Jeff Soyez. There was more than $1,000 in damages.

Kodi D. Kelsey, 39, 130 S. Freeborn, Marion, was westbound on 290th near Sunflower Road in a 2000 Dodge Caravan at 9:30 p.m. July 20, when a deer entered the road and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Jerry D. Shank, 39, Hutchinson, was backing from a campsite at Marion Reservoir in a 2007 GMC Sierra pickup at 7:45 p.m. July 27, when the vehicle struck a tree. There were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages, reported Hillsboro Police Chief Dan Kinning.

Dakota James Peterson, 16, 110 N. Adams, Hillsboro, was parking a 1988 Dodge Dakota pickup at 5 p.m. Aug. 1 at a business on Western Heights Circle when he struck an ice machine which hit a building. The truck was registered to Daine and Kathleen Peterson, of the same address. Hillsboo Police Officer Steven Janzen reported there were no injuries and damages to the ice machine door and outer wall of the building.

Brett A. Hajek, 26, 2138 340th, Lost Springs, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Remington in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 2, when a deer came from a north ditch and was struck. Passengers in the vehicle were Jenifer Mellies, 23, Newton, Trent Hajek, 20, 2138 340th, Lost Springs, and Jenifer Hanzlicek, 19, Newton. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Christopher W. Barker, 44, Haysville, was northbound on U.S.-56/77 near milemarker 310 in a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee at 6:15 a.m. Aug. 3, when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Philpott.

David Edward Loewen, 16, 116 S. Wilson, Hillsboro, was facing northwest on Arbor Court near Willow Glen Lane, Hillsboro,at 10:04 a.m. Aug. 6, backed up to head east, and then struck a vehicle. Loewen was driving a 1999 Plymouth Caravan. The parked vehicle was a 2000 Ford Mustang and owned by Kelsey Nicole Bloss of Wichita. There was more than $1,000 in damages and no injuries, reported Officer Janzen.

John M. Frederickson, 64, 1000 Tanglewood, Marion, was backing from a parking space at a business on Orchard Drive, Hillsboro, in a 2005 Chevrolet pickup at 1 p.m. Aug. 7, when he struck the rear of a 2002 Buick passenger car, driven by Holly J. Swartzendruber, 35, 213 S. Birch, Hillsboro, causing minor damage. Hillsboro Assistance Chief Jessey Hiebert reported there were no injuries.
