Accidents reported
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Deran I. Siebert, 65, 1429 190th, Marion, was westbound on 120th near Chisholm Trail Road in a 1993 Mercury Grand LS at 5:20 a.m. June 25, when his vehicle struck a cow that was standing in the roadway and spun into a south ditch. Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez reported the driver had possible injuries and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
Jenny M. Herzet, 33, 607 S. Roosevelt, Marion, was westbound on 190th near Limestone Road in a 2005 Dodge SLT pickup at 9:32 p.m. July 20, when a deer came from a south ditch and was unable to avoid hitting the animal. Passengers in the vehicle were Kaleb J. Montgomery, 10, Corban R. Montgomery, 8, and Calvin H. Montgomery, 9, all of the same address. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Sergeant Soyez.
Sharon K. Plummer, 46, Junction City, was eastbound on U.S.-56 near Nighthawk Road in a 2002 Pontiac Montana van at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5, when a deer came from a north ditch, entered the roadway, and was struck. Passengers in the van were Dale Plummer, 48, Kensey Plummer, 11, and Thomas Plummer, 14, all of the same address. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Verlin L. Sommerfeld, 69, 508 Lawrence, Durham, was eastbound on 250th near Goldenrod in a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup at 9:12 p.m. Aug. 8, when a deer came from a west ditch and was struck. Lillie A. Sommerfeld, 65, of the same address, was a passenger. Sergeant Soyez reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Bryce A. Suffield, 17, 1911 170th, Marion, was southbound on Sunflower near 180th in a 1998 GMC SL at 11 p.m. Aug. 17, when a deer came from a west ditch and was struck. The vehicle as registered to Duwayne Suffield of the same address. Megan E. Gutsch, 18, 406 W. Seventh, Lincolnville, was a passenger. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Sergeant Soyez.
