Acree, Groening engagement

Gordon and Shirley Groening of Marion, along with Karen and Ken Price of Washington and Bill and Mary Beth Acree of Topeka, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Jenny Groening and Aaron Acree, both of Concordia.

The future bride is a 1996 graduate of Marion High School and received a bachelor degree in English and journalism from Emporia State University in May 2000. She currently is employed by the Salina public schools and teaches journalism classes at Salina Central High School.

The prospective groom is a 1991 graduate of Washington High School and received a degree in physical education from Fort Hays State University. He is employed as head women's softball coach and intramural director at Cloud County Community College, Concordia.

Groening is the granddaughter of Jack and Sylvia Helmer of Marion and Irma Groening of Hillsboro. Acree is the grandson of Elmer and Betty Zabokrtsky of Washington.

The couple is planning to be married at 4 p.m. Dec. 21 in Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
