Adversity = opportunity
When the night is darkest, a dawn is sure to come. When things get tough, the tough get going. And, it's never as bad as it may seem.
Those trite and true expressions have merit, no matter how boring they be to the younger generation.
As they grow older your offspring will learn that the bumpy road usually leads to a rich reward.
During the days of our youth, while hanging around our favorite place (the blacksmith shop) the message learned was that horseshoes are tempered by hot fire and constant blows. The hotter the fire and harder the blows from the blacksmith's strong arm, the better the quality of the horseshoe.
An Elkhart, Kansas, farm boy suffered from being burned and was told he might never walk again. He didn't accept defeat. Through therapy and exercise Glen Cunningham not only walked but ran. He became world famous as an Olympic medal winner.
Remember that the next time a situation seems impossible or a task too tough to tolerate. Face the facts squarely, give the problem your best shot, and some day you'll look back on what is termed a "blessing in disguise."
