Albert Patry

Services for Albert J. Patry, 91, were held Dec. 28, 2002, at St. Mark Catholic Church of Holy Family Parish in Marion.

The rosary was recited the preceding evening at Zeiner Funeral Home.

Father Steve Gronert was the officiating clergyman and Janice Waner the lector for the Mass of the Resurrection.

Mary Griffith was the vocal soloist and Charlene Svitak the organist.

Mass servers were Daniel Goentzel, Nikki Nelson, and Kara Druse.

Casket bearers were Jim Cyr, Corey Patry, C.R. Wegerer, Brandon Patry, John Hanneman, and L.E. Patry.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established at the church.

Patry was born Jan. 22, 1911, at Colwich. The family moved to a farm near Peabody while he was a small child.

After graduating from Peabody High School he attended Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, for one year.

He farmed in the Florence community many years before going into the growing field of electronics. He was employed for four years at Fort Wayne, Ind., before moving back to Kansas.

He continued farming but also worked at the Hesston Corporation until he retired from that firm in1966.

He moved to Florence in 1967 where he worked part time for Williams Service.

When his health began to fail, in 1992, he moved to Marion and spent the last years of his long life at Marion Manor Rehabilitation Center.

Albert was married to Mary Eloise Burgat for more than 60 years. She died June 24, 2002.

The couple had four surviving children; Ann Cyr and her husband Carl, Charles Patry and his wife Donna, Don Patry and his wife Ellen, and Doug Patry. There also are six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren
