Alberta Olson

Alberta L. Olson, 90, of White City, died Jan. 12, 2003, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

She was born Jan. 6, 1913, at Alta Vista, the daughter of Albert J. and Frances L. (Kruger) Kamisky.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Donahue Funeral Home Chapel, Herington, with Pastor John Gerry officiating. Burial was at Dwight Cemetery.

She graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1931, then received her teaching certificate from Emporia Normal School. She was a homemaker who taught at the elementary level in Ebbitt, Rosey, Antilope, and Wetzel country schools in Geary County. Prior to her retirement in 1976, she worked for the civil service at Fort Riley.

She moved from White City to Marion in 1993, then moved to Parkside Homes at Hillsboro in the past few months. She was a member of White City Methodist Church, Geary County Davis Creek EHU, and an officer of the Geary County Senior Citizens' organization. She was a 4-H leader in Geary County, a 50-year member of White City Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Geary County Teacher's Association.

On Dec. 31, 1938, she married Ole Olson Jr. in Beatrice, Neb. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1992. She also was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Kilton, Festus, and Paul Kamisky.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Russ of Stockton and Alona Hedstrom of Burdick; a sister, Esther Brabb of Alta Vista; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial funds have been established with Marion County Home Health Care, Marion County Hospice, or Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.
